Infectious morbidity and mortality in the infectious diseases department of the CHU Yalgado Ouédraogo in Burkina Faso in 2019

Introduction: Infectious diseases remain a major public health problem in developing countries. The objective of this study was to determine the epidemiological and clinical profile infectious pathology department CHU Yalgado Ouédraogo Ouagadougou. Patients method: This cross-sectional retrospective that took place University Hospital from January 1, 2019 December 31, 2019. Were included all patients hospitalized said service during period. For each patient retained sociodemographic, diagnostic data were collected. Results: In one year, 159 had been YO UHC. mean age 42±9 years with extremes 15 80 years. female sex most represented (55.5%) ratio 0.8. majority (64%) came province Kadiogo. frequently diagnosed HIV infection (24%), pulmonary infections (21.8%), malaria (14%), dengue fever (9%), urinary tract (7.5%), meningitis (3.8%), typhoid (3%), rabies chicken pox tetanus toxoplasmosis cutaneous leishmaniosis (3%). signs severity presented by our dominated dyspnea, severe anemia, dehydration. delay consultation 13.5 days average duration hospitalization 9.8 days, hospital mortality 24%.
